Jacqueline Dark is a multiple Helpmann and Green Room Award winning Australian mezzo-soprano. Her performance experience encompasses opera, music theatre, cabaret and concert performances and includes the roles of Fricka and Second Norn (Der Ring Des Nibelungen), Amneris (Aida) The Composer (Ariadne auf Naxos), Carmen (Carmen), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Katisha (The Mikado), Dorabella (Così Fan Tutte), Santuzza (Cavalleria Rusticana) and Herodias (Salome). Jacqueline sang as a soloist in the gala concert to open Melbourne’s Hamer Hall and created the cabaret duo Strange Bedfellows with Kanen Breen. She has appeared on television on So You Think You Can Dance and as a guest panellist on the popular music quiz show Spicks and Specks. She performed the role of Amnerias in Aida as a part of the Opera on Sydney Harbour series by Opera Australia.
After completing a Bachelor of Physics degree, Jacqueline was awarded the Vienna State Opera Award by Opera Foundation Australia and sang many roles for the Wiener Staatsoper. She has appeared as a soloist with groups including Victorian Opera, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Adelaide Festival, State Opera of South Australia, Darwin Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Chorale, the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria, Sydney Philharmonia, Opera Hong Kong, The Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Society, New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
Jacqueline’s performances as Marcellina (The Marriage of Figaro), Annina (Der Rosenkavalier), Katisha (The Mikado) and Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) have been filmed by CinemaLive and Opera Australia for international cinema and DVD release.
Jacqueline recently performed the role of Mother Abbess in the Australian tour of The Sound Of Music to great critical acclaim, reprised her role as Fricka in Opera Australia’s Ring Cycle and performed the lead role in the Australian premiere of Rufus Wainwright’s opera Prima Donna for Adelaide Festival.
