Are you looking for some fabulous science activities to explore with your kids while you’re at home?
I’ve whipped up some entertaining activities for you! I call my style ‘ninja stealth physics teaching’ – the kids are having so much fun, they don’t realise they’re learning!
The modules are short and fun, and accompanied by a video I made with my son, to lead you through each activity step by step and provide explanations of the concepts involved.
I am passionate about physics and about teaching, and firmly believe that if you gain a deep understanding of the basic concepts and have your spark of curiosity ignited, you’re set up for a lifetime of love for science.
In these modules, I’ve concentrated on a series of core concepts that will give kids a solid base introduction to a range of science topics.
I’ve kept it simple. You should be able to do every experiment with things you have around the house, and I’ve included a fully-worked solution sheet to give parents all the answers!
There are also suggestions for extension activities if you have a kid like mine who latches onto ideas and wants to follow them up!
Modules include a video with Xander, an online quiz, a work sheet, and a parents guide – some modules contain multiple videos!
Are you ready to tackle a weighty subject? You’ll have a ball investigating The Big G - GRAVITY!
Why do objects fall to the ground instead of floating in the air? Which objects fall the fastest? What is air resistance? Join Xander to answer these questions and more as we investigate GRAVITY.
Are you feeling energetic? EXCELLENT, because in this module we are going to investigate ENERGY.
What is energy? What are the different forms of energy? How does a roller coaster work? Get your brain energised and ready for answers!
Let’s investigate what floats and what sinks and learn all about DENSITY!
Why do some objects float and some sink? Will an apple float in water? Will a Coke can? Will a potato? Grab some fruit and veggies and a few soft drink cans, and let’s test it out when we learn about Density!
Ready, set, GO! In this module, you get to hit the ground running, as we learn about Motion!
You’ll be zooming along the track, sprinting and walking … and then create your very own distance-time graph that represents your own unique motion. It’s a very cool thing to pin up on your bedroom wall!
